Once more unto the breach, dear friends, once more.
The fifth Renaissance Hunt, under the aegis of Perryn Peterson and the good folks of Historical Hunts, is up and running, and about midway through its month. If I work hard at this, I can open all the boxes and preview all the gifties before it comes to a close. If I work hard. What are the chances of that, eh?
Anyway. The Renaissance Hunt is accompanied by a Renaissance Faire, which sprawls over Mieville Shelley and offers many mediaeval-style diversions, as well as a start and end point for the Hunt itself. It also has a mini-hunt, involving acorns concealed with rare and frustrating cunning about the Faire itself. Before setting out on the Hunt qua Hunt, let's have a look at what we can extract from those ten acorns. (Which were absolute b- err, nuisances - to find, some of them.)
Here we have: two Renaissance Trunks (from Scamp and the hard-to-alphabetize % store); an Irish Rug by Liam Metaluna; a Book Table from Park Place Home Decor; and a selection of Shakespeare's Works (which will give you a work in notecard form if you click on it).
Some jewelry - a Renaissance Poesy ring from XMD and a rather nice bracelet from Thistle Moon. You can't make out much detail on the ring itself, but the pack shot in the background might help. Tali wondered if the engraving was in the Black Speech of Mordor, but I think she might have been worrying unnecessarily.
Scrying pool by Tailahr Winnikow. Shows a random image when you click on it. Slow fade in and fade out, rather nice effect actually.
Girl Seated at Virginal by Vermeer, from Port Royal, the musical instruments shop which is all about playing around on the virginals. And other musical instruments.
Finally, a Renaissance Hunt jeans and T-shirt outfit from Mountain Rose. Comes in a box with numerous other options.
And... what is that little fellow on my right shoulder? Is it, perchance, the Hunt gargoyle, obtained from stop number 1, the Faire itself, to help it rez in all subsequent locations? Why, yes, that is indeed what it is. The Hunt begins. The game, as they say, is afoot.
